Large trucks run through Chiang Khong city of Chiang Rai province toward the 4th Thailand-Lao PDR Friendship Bridge, which is across from Chiang Khong district to the city of Huai Sai in Lao PDR. Huai Sai city is 10 Km away from Chiang Khong city to cross the international border for further transporting goods to Southern part of China. According to the statistics of the Customs Department, in the fiscal year of 2015, Chiang Khong Customs House facilitated import value of more than 3,800 million Baht, and export value of more than 13,000 million Baht, which was a growing trend after the official opening of the 4th Thailand-Lao PDR Friendship Bridge in 2013.
