Cabinet approved amendment of the Communicable Disease Act; state of emergency could be lifted in January

The cabinet approved the amendment of the Communicable Disease Act on Tuesday, which could lead to the lifting of the state of emergency.

The state of emergency was enacted on March 26, during the peak of the coronavirus pandemic in Thailand. Since then, the government has been extending it monthly, arguing that the decree is needed to prolong travel restrictions and quarantine rules.
